Last month, on Saturday 16 May, Dr Iain McGilchrist was formally installed as the new Chancellor of Ralston College.
His first duty was to admit our graduands to the degree of Master of Arts in the Humanities. After the convocation congratulated the graduates on their new status, Dr McGilchrist delivered an address to this latest cohort of Ralston alumni.
His stirring and inspiring speech, which can be heard and viewed in the video below, touched upon several important themes: the deep symbolism of tradition, the transformational power of education, the enduring appeal of transcendent ideals, and the courage all humans need to achieve their potential in the world. Dr McGilchrist’s words will stay with the graduates as they step forward — with courage — into their lives in the wider world.
Ralston College feels truly privileged to have spent a profoundly transformative year with this cohort throughout their studies. Not for nothing was their curriculum united under the all-important theme of “Fellowship”.
